Cora Hallsworth
cep@vcn.bc.ca

Cora has worked with environmental consulting companies and non-profit organizations on energy, climate change, and waste management issues for the past six years. Volunteer work is very important to Cora. She has contributed her time to numerous environmental groups over the past 12 years - as a board member, environmental education advisor, and network facilitator. Cora enjoys developing collaborative projects that bring together the strengths of individuals and groups for positive action. Currently Cora conducts research and provides recommendations on sustainability issues, develops and implements communication and consultation strategies and environmental education campaigns; and develops reports and communication materials. When she's not working you can find Cora topping up her inspiration in B.C.'s beautiful mountains, forests and ocean - backcountry skiing, hiking, kayaking...

Iona To

Iona is a fourth year Conservation Biology student at the University of British Columbia. She has worked in Environment Canada's Air Quality Management Section, providing research and technical assistance to further diesel emission reduction strategies and conducting a study on the emission reductions achieved from the university transit pass (U-Pass) program. She has also spent time in Yukon's northern boreal forest, where she assisted in plant community studies. She is currently managing CEP's email listserves and volunteering at speaker events. She is also leading an environmental day camp at a local community centre in East Vancouver.

Mentorship Program

CEP’s new mentoring program in Vancouver began in January 2006 and is now well underway. This program has provided an opportunity for mentors to give back some of the support they had received throughout their career, improve their leadership and communication skills, and contribute to the future of their fields by providing guidance to emerging leaders. Mentees have gained valuable advice on career and personal development, expanded their professional network, and improved their communication skills. This six-month pilot program will be coming to an end in June and a new program will begin again in September. If you're interested in becoming a mentor or mentee, please email cep@vcn.bc.ca.
