"From Icebergs to Sand Dunes" explores the effects of Climate Change on two desert biomes. Together Canadian adventurers Geoff Green and Ray Zahab take the audience on a fascinating and inspiring journey from the Earth's Polar Regions to the Sahara Desert. During the presentation, Geoff and Ray will weave together stories of adventure, profound observations of and lessons from Mother Nature, and their unique perspective into the human condition.

Proceeds "From Icebergs to Sand Dunes" will be given to The Students on Ice Polar Education Foundation and ONE X ONE.

YEP Career Information Session

When:  Wednesday, January 30th from 12pm-2pm

Where: Deer Park Branch Library, 40 St. Clair Ave. East (located on St.Clair, east of Yonge)

YEP Toronto is delighted to present our members and non-members a career information day.  This is a perfect time for many; those who have recently graduated, those of you in your last year of school, and those who just want some information.  We will have a speaker from York University for the Career Services, information brochures provided on behhalf of ECO Canada.

New Year YEP Social Gathering!!!

First off, a very Happy New Year!!    Please join us on for a friendly social gathering starting at 8pm.   It will be held at our usual spot, the Madison Ave Pub.  Bring your friends, family members, anyone interested in the environment.  Can't wait to see you there!!

 

YEP Guest Speaker Event

Thank you everyone who came out to our social gathering a few weeks back. Attendance was great and there was some excellent discussion regarding activities and issues of interest to YEP Toronto members.

Based on feedback from our members, YEP Toronto is launching a new series of speaking events focusing on emerging environmental challenges facing Toronto and the region.

When: Wednesday, November 28th at 8pm

Where: The Madison Ave Pub , 14 Madison Ave. (TTC: Spadina and Bloor)

Details:  Our first event will feature Rachel Melzer, a Toronto resident and Great Lakes Research and Strategic Policy Coordinator for the Ontario Ministry of the Environment. Rachel will be leading an interactive discussion on the Greater Toronto Region's existing and emerging water and Great Lakes challenges.

For this first speaking event in our series, admission will be *Free!* to members and non-members alike, so bring your friends, classmates, and everyone who shares an interest in the environment.

(Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry) Dinner Meeting

Who: Steve Desrocher, Environmental Specialist at the Ontario Realty Corporation, will be speaking about the on-going risk assessment-driven development of the Don Lands on the Toronto Waterfront.

When: Thursday, November 29th, 2007 - Toronto
5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Talk to begin ~ 6:15, but join us early to munch and mingle.
